Compassionate trauma and developmental trauma support for children, adolescents, and families throughout South Jordan and the surrounding Salt Lake Valley.
At Hope and Healing Child and Family Counseling, we understand that trauma can affect a child’s development, relationships, and sense of safety in profound and sometimes lasting ways. Children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect, significant disruptions in caregiving, or prenatal exposure to substances may have difficulty trusting others, regulating emotions, learning, or developing healthy relationships with caregivers and peers.
From a psychodynamic and relationship-based perspective, we look beyond behaviors and symptoms to understand how a child’s experiences have shaped their developing sense of self and their expectations of others. We work to create a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship where children can begin to make sense of their experiences, develop emotional awareness, and build new ways of relating to themselves and others.
Because healing from trauma often happens within relationships, we work closely with parents and caregivers throughout the therapeutic process. We provide parents with support and practical tools to better understand their child’s needs, respond to behaviors with greater connection and attunement, and strengthen attachment relationships.
When appropriate, we work with the entire family to support healing and create healthier patterns of connection. Our goal is to help children and families move from surviving difficult experiences toward greater safety, connection, resilience, and emotional well-being.
