Adoption Counseling

At Hope and Healing Child and Family Counseling, we specialize in supporting children and families who have been impacted by adoption, foster care, disrupted attachment, neglect, abuse, and other early childhood experiences. We understand that children who have experienced separation, loss, or changes in caregivers may carry complex emotions and needs that can show up through their behavior, relationships, and communication.

Our counseling approach recognizes that foster and adoptive families often face unique challenges. Children may struggle with trust, attachment, emotional regulation, identity, grief, or a sense of safety and belonging. Parents and caregivers may feel overwhelmed or unsure how to respond when traditional parenting strategies do not seem to work.

We help families understand the story beneath the behavior and develop practical, relationship-based strategies that promote safety, connection, trust, and healing. Our work incorporates trauma-informed and attachment-focused approaches, including Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®), Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

We support families as they navigate:

We partner with parents and caregivers to help children build trust, develop healthy coping skills, and experience a greater sense of safety and connection within their families.
